Please note :   If you are attending Jump Start 2010, to gain access to the air base you will need to bring along photo ID. A drivers licence or similar is acceptable. Dependants will need to be accompanied by a parent (with photo ID).
Tandem & Camera working crews will also need to provide us with their vehicle registration numbers, to allow you access your vehicle. Only the working crews & catering vehicles will be permitted access onto base. All others attending will need to park your vehicles on the main grass area in front of the air base main gate. Also, if you are bringing anyone with you (partner, packer, etc) we will need their names for the master gate listing. If your name is not on the gate listing, there is no access.

Last but not least, if you have not yet completed and returned the waivers, please do this ASAP >> WAIVERS

As you will know, Jump Start is again planned for 2010. The event date is set for Saturday 6th March 2010 (weather day is the 7th March 2010).  Only a few short weeks to go !  Behind the scenes coordination is well advanced for this years event.

The RNZAF Hercules is “tasked” for Jump Start 2010.*

DO YOU WANT TO JUMP THE C130 HERCULES ?
If you are a licenced NZPIA Sport skydiver,  you can jump the C130 Hercules !   The deal is that if you sponsor one of the teenagers from CanTeen or Project K to do a tandem skydive ($300), you are in with a chance to jump too, or ride as an observer if you are a non skydiver. You won’t be able to jump out of the Herc unless you are part of the tandem/camera team donating your services to the event, OR unless you have sponsored a teenager. Slots on the Herc will be prioritized in order of highest funds raised.

You don’t have to donate all the money from your own pocket. WEATHER CALL
The evening prior to the Jump Start event (Friday 5th March-2010 at 1930 hrs, that’s 7.30pm) we will have a telephone hot line set up by the RNZAF which will allow you to phone in for a recorded message. THIS WILL BE ADVISED SHORTLY. The Jump Start website will also be posting a notice regarding the weather call the evening prior, as well as an email being sent to all registered for our e-newsletter. JUMP START DATES & VENUE 2010 
Jump Start 2010 will take place at the RNZAF Airbase, Whenuapai, Auckland, on the 6th March 2010 (weather day 7th March 2010)
The Jump Start landing area will operate in front of the Parachute Training & Support Unit HQ. All personnel will assemble in the hanger area adjacent to the PTSU facility. Entry to base will be made through the main gate.  If you are participating in the Jump Start event your names will be on a master listing at the main gate for access. A Jump Start STAFF member will also man the gate to issue your security access stamp. These must be visible at all times. A team of RNZAF & JUMPSTART staff will assist with your orientation to the Jump Start event area.

* The event may be cancelled at any time due to act of war, civil emergency, aircraft availability, aircraft serviceability, or any other reason.  Dates of this event may change at any time without notice. Jump Start will not accept any liability for event cancellation for any reason. 

Provisional dates have been provided by RNZAF for the weekend of – Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th of March 2010. Saturday being the main event day, with sunday set aside for weather back up.

Please note – that as usual these dates may vary and or the event postponed or cancelled due to unavailability of the aircraft / military, due to unforseen circumstances.

Also, for your information, Jump Start has already passed surplus funds from the 2009 event to both Project K and CanTeen. A further $5,000 to each charity was donated prior to June 30. This makes total donations to Project K & Canteen of $ 17,000.– since the events inception in 2007.

We trust you will once again join us to help provide the kids with this ‘experience of being alive’ in 2010.

PERRIS, CA – September 26, 2009 – 181 female skydivers from 31 countries joined together on September 26 at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time to set a new women’s formation skydiving world record and raise over $900,000 for the fight against breast cancer, the most in the event’s history. The week-long event was organized to raise funds for City of Hope’s breast cancer research. Sponsored by Jump for the Cause (www.jumpforthecause.com), a sky diving nonprofit organization, the event was held at the Perris Valley Skydiving Center (www.skydiveperris.com) in Perris, California, September 21-27 to kick off October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Perris Valley Skydiving Center is the largest in North America providing 9 planes to lift the women to 17,000 ft. and create the new women’s world record formation skydive. Participants include breast and other cancer survivors, friends, family and supporters. Women from all walks of life with varied occupations and motivations worked together to be a part of this historic event and contributed to a cause that affects women worldwide. 

Led by Kate Cooper-Jensen, one of the foremost skydivers in the world, Jump for the Cause was co-founded with Mallory Lewis, Lamb Chop’s sister, after her mother, legendary puppeteer Shari Lewis, lost her own battle with cancer in 1998. Events in 1999, 2002 and 2005 raised a combined total of over $1 million and broke the previous world records with 119 women in 1999, 131 women in 2002 and 151 in 2005.

“The dedication and passion these women bring to this event is inspiring,” said Lewis. “all national and religious differences have been put aside to fight the common enemy, breast cancer!”
