Jump Start provides Daniel’s wish
by Admin. ~ July 31st, 2007. Filed under: News.Wednesday, 4th July 2007 : Daniel Bliek is 18 years old and has been fighting leukemia for the last 4 years. Daniel’s condition is terminal. But today he fulfilled his big wish – to go “skydiving”. It was Jump Start’s privilege to give him that jump.
Daniel was unable to jump at Matamata on 2nd of March, due to his treatment regime. His brother Josh (16), who contributed to Daniel’s treatment with a bone marrow transplant, jumped at Matamata instead. Josh jumped from the Herc on load 3, with Jim Hefkey(Sponsor), Greg West(Tandem Master) and Tiger Johnson(camera/video).
On Wednesday 4th July, Daniel & brother Josh jumped at Skydive Auckland, Mercer, jumping from a C185 from 12,000 ft. Rob Pine (Jump Start photographer) was at Mercer for the day, to take pictures and share in the occasion with Daniel and Josh, and their father Gerry and Michelle Thomas from CanTeen.
Daniel Jumped with Gavin Horrell (Tandem Master) & Jo Snowden (camera/video) .
Jump Start is proud to have been able to grant Daniel his wish. To skydive from an aeroplane.
